The foundation of every country is the education for its youth.Kerala Was the first state to have achieved the universal literacy.National Literacy Mission declared total literacy in the whole state of kerala on April 18,1991.37 percentage of the state?s annual budget goes to education. Schools and colleges are mostly run by the government, private trusts, or individuals. Each school is affiliated with either the Indian Certificates of Secondary Education(ICSE),Central Board for Secondary Education(CBSE),Kerala State Education Board or the National Institute of Opening Schooling(NIOS).
Kerala has made major achievements in school enrolment at the primary level.Pre-primary education is the foundation of a child?s knowledge,skills and rules of behavior.It helps the students for a successful progress in daily work and school.Primary education provide all the facility to develop their physical,intellectual,language,social and emotional development.Primary education helps the children?s to develop their reading and writing capabilities.Every village in kerala contain atleast five primary schools.Government provide free and compulsory education in primary and secondary level.The number of girls enrolling into schools is 49% almost equal to the boys.
DPEP(District Primary Education Programme)- The main objective of DPEP is the universalization of primary education.It is a programming method of education and is sponsored by the government of India.The aim behind this program is that- the primary education promotion in educationally backward districts.The scheme start their action in Kerala in December 1994.The districts of Malappuram,Wayanad and Kasargod were targeted as areas requiring implementation of this programme.
The main objectives of this programme are-provide access for all children to primary education according to national norms, ensure retention for all children in primary classes and improvement in quality of primary education.Activity based Classroom is one of the main concepts practiced in all the districts.
Vocational Higher Secondary Education?This educational system was introduced in Kerala at the higher secondary level in 1983-1984.There are 322 School in the entire state and of these 91 are private and 231 are the government schools.This educational system helps more students coming from backward socio-economic background.Vocational educations(or courses) are provided in 45 different subjects.Agriculture,business and commerce,home sciences,humanities, health and paramedical services,clothing and embroidery, cosmetology etc.
are the subject comes under this secondary educational systems.CBSE(Central Board of Secondary Education)-This secondary education is followed all over.They conduct two type of board examination-All India Secondary School Examination for Class 10 and other All India Senior School Certificate Examination? for class 12.The scores of this examinations are used by many collages to determine admissions.The only education medium for CBSE are English and Hindi.CBSE conduct ICSE examination and AIEEE for class 12.ICSE is an examination for direct admission to university undergraduate courses.All India Engineering Entrance Examination(AIEEE) is a common entrance examination for admission to engineering.
ICSE(Indian Certificate Secondary Education )- Is an Examination conducted by the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination for class 10.Most of the schools are affiliated to either the ICSE or CBSE board examinations.The result of this examination is more important in all over the country.Private candidates are not permitted to attend this examination.
