Cary, N.C. ? A Green Hope High School girls' soccer coach has been suspended with pay after police arrested him at his home early Saturday on charges related to child pornography.
Cary Police Capt. Don Hamilton said Robert Jules Peterson, 43, of 1113 Tarbert Court, Cary, was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday on six counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
He was out of jail Sunday evening on a $50,000 bond.
Arrest warrants indicate Peterson had in his possession sexually explicit photos of girls, who appeared to be between the ages of 5 and 11 years old.
Hamilton would not say what led to Peterson's arrest but stressed that the accusations do not involve any local children or students.
Stella Shelton, interim communications officer for the Wake County Public School System, said Sunday that Peterson has worked at Green Hope High since August 2001.
This past season, he led the girls' soccer team to an undefeated season, its first state title and No. 1 ranking in the country.
