On the internet Buying As well as Worldwide - Business And Finance

Lots of people authored away internet business because non-starter from it?s introduction within nineties. The actual us dot com bubble broke the standard buying and it is development not surprisingly appropriately grew to become meteoric. Skeptics contended which e-commerce expense had been meant in order to disaster as well as becoming overrated. These people actually forecasted the actual change through brick-and-mortar company in order to online shop would not occur effectively.

The modern meteoric development associated with internet business offers confirmed their own forecasts fake. More than 70% change has had location and also the development price continues to be constant as well as optimistic with regard to internet business proprietors. Actually, having a good online shop is nearly required for those main as well as medium-sized brick-and-mortar companies. As well as, the actual advancements tend to be strong evidences in order to the truth that their own critique had been not even close to reality. In a nutshell, the actual changeover may be constant, gradually.

How can all of us consider which on the internet buying is actually continuously flourishing? For this issue, one of these will be adequate as well as explain this satisfactorily. Think about you?re the experienced on the internet consumer and also you store ALL OF US items between Sydney. The majority of regrettably, you?ll be faltering to accomplish your own buying, simply because you?ll be debarred through having to pay the actual expenses at the conclusion associated with buying whilst which makes it by way of any kind of non-US charge cards or even debit credit cards.

The reason the united states merchants display meant for their own remain may be the deal requires a lot of time to complete, leading to postponed repayment as well as postponed delivery towards the tackle. Once again, the actual support associated with item delivery through ALL OF US in order to Sydney straight isn?t any much more supplied by the united states merchants, simply because worldwide delivery support involves lots of duties. As well as, the actual merchants don?t wish to participate on their own with this additional exercise with regard to if so they need to produce their very own advanced as well as tech-enabled delivery national infrastructure. With this, these people spread the actual delivery support in order to expert delivery businesses.

You have to have the ability to reckon that just hectic business people may prevent trying out this type of profitable choice. There isn?t any question which delivery company is extremely a lot satisfying. Experienced on the internet buying company not really already been profitable, might they?ve remaining this method? Worldwide delivery in order to Sydney and also to every other areas might have already been their own additional profit-generating swimming pool.

Altering developments within buying: Consumers tend to be moving their own buying system progressively. These people think it is to become handy, much less time-taking, cost-effective as well as, even more, all-pervasive twenty-four hours a day. It?s handy simply because consumers may store using their house comfort. Buying on the internet is simply the click-away support. Consumers may also get associated with click-away support with regard to bought item delivery through all of us in order to sydney and also to every other says from the globe.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 for Verizon swings through the FCC

Samsung Galaxy S 4 for Verizon swings through the FCC

We weren't kidding about that influx of FCC filings: the Verizon edition of Samsung's Galaxy S 4, the SCH-i545, has passed through the US regulator's approval right on cue. The device on display ticks all the checkboxes we'd expect, including LTE on both Verizon's main 700MHz band and the carrier's recently acquired AWS frequencies. We also notice HSPA-based 3G, which suggests Big Red's GS4 won't be a paperweight when abroad. The filing just leaves AT&T and T-Mobile as the major stragglers in the US; at the current rate, though, they'll have little trouble getting clearance before they have to fulfill any future orders.

Children with sleep apnea have higher risk of behavioral, adaptive and learning problems

Mar. 29, 2013 ? A new study found that obstructive sleep apnea, a common form of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), is associated with increased rates of ADHD-like behavioral problems in children as well as other adaptive and learning problems.

"This study provides some helpful information for medical professionals consulting with parents about treatment options for children with SDB that, although it may remit, there are considerable behavioral risks associated with continued SDB," said Michelle Perfect, PhD, the study's lead author and assistant professor in the school psychology program in the department of disability and psychoeducational studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson. "School personnel should also consider the possibility that SDB contributes to difficulties with hyperactivity, learning and behavioral and emotional dysregulation in the classroom."

The five-year study, which appears in the April issue of the journal SLEEP, utilized data from a longitudinal cohort, the Tucson Children's Assessment of Sleep Apnea Study (TuCASA). The TuCASA study prospectively examined Hispanic and Caucasian children between 6 and 11 years of age to determine the prevalence and incidence of SDB and its effects on neurobehavioral functioning. The study involved 263 children who completed an overnight sleep study and a neurobehavioral battery of assessments that included parent and youth reported rating scales.

Results show that 23 children had incident sleep apnea that developed during the study period, and 21 children had persistent sleep apnea throughout the entire study. Another 41 children who initially had sleep apnea no longer had breathing problems during sleep at the five-year follow-up.

The odds of having behavioral problems were four to five times higher in children with incident sleep apnea and six times higher in children who had persistent sleep apnea. Compared to youth who never had SDB, children with sleep apnea were more likely to have parent-reported problems in the areas of hyperactivity, attention, disruptive behaviors, communication, social competency and self-care. Children with persistent sleep apnea also were seven times more likely to have parent-reported learning problems and three times more likely to have school grades of C or lower.

The authors report that this is the first sleep-related study to use a standardized questionnaire to assess adaptive functioning in typically developing youth with and without SDB.

"Even though SDB appears to decline into adolescence, taking a wait and see approach is risky and families and clinicians alike should identify potential treatments," said Perfect.

Swish Navigates SFTP Connections in Windows Explorer

Swish Navigates SFTP Connections in Windows Explorer Windows: Opening up a dedicated FTP client just to find a file or two is a pain. Swish integrates your SFTP connections directly into Windows Explorer to save you the trouble.

Swish will install as a Windows Explorer extension and show up as a mounted drive on your system. Within this drive, you can add SFTP connections, and navigate them within Explorer. You'll need to put in your password the first time you connect, but it will save it thereafter to make navigation even faster.

Unfortunately, Swish only works with SFTP connections, not FTP, WebDAV, or cloud storage services like most FTP clients support. If that's all you need though, this will essentially replace any need you have for a standalone client.

?The Korean Zombie,? Boston and Tito Ortiz: Where did they fall on the Cagewriter Hot or Not list?

It's been a slow week for MMA, but it's likely to pick up as we start an eventful April. In this last week of March, who was hot or who was not?

Hot ? Boston: According to a tweet from UFC president Dana White, the promotion is headed back to Boston, his hometown. Fox's new channel, Fox Sports 1, will get its first UFC event with this card, scheduled for Aug. 17.

Not ? Commissions: First, Nick Diaz's camp said his weigh-in at UFC 158 was mishandled by the commission in Quebec. Then, Andrei Arlovski's camp said there was a timing error at the World Series of Fighting 2 card that caused Arlovski to take extra damage. Commissions' doing things right is necessary for the sport to grow, so mistakes like these are worrisome.

Hot ? Chan Sung Jung, aka "The Korean Zombie:" He stood up to the UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre with a respectful dignity. Jung informed GSP, and much of the MMA world, about the symbolism behind the Rising Sun that the welterweight champion wore on his gi for UFC 158. GSP and Hayabusa, the company behind the gi quickly apologized. Jung handled the situation with quiet courage, and used it as a teachable moment. It was an impressive moment for both TKZ and GSP.

Not ? Tito Ortiz: The retired UFC legend is now working as the manager for Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, and he has a plan. Santos is fighting on next weekend's Invicta card, and he wants her to fight her next few fights in Invicta. Then on New Year's Eve, Ortiz wants Santos, who won't move down to bantamweight, to fight UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in the UFC.

"Cris has shown in Strikeforce, why she's so dominant, why women are afraid of her. She has three fights with Invicta, she will be the world champion and she will walk away a world champion. Like I said, New Year's Eve, let's make a super fight. Forget the title. Champion vs. champion, who cares about the title?"

That's a nice plan if you forget that Rousey has said she doesn't want to move up in weight, or that most of her 2013 is set. She will coach against the winner of Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate in the next edition of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Hot ? Fans: You're getting another Fan Expo. The UFC will host a Fan Expo in conjunction with UFC 162 in Las Vegas. Get your tickets here.

Serotonin and Migraine Headaches

Information by Thomas C. Weiss - Published: 2013-03-30

A serotonin migraine is due to a deficiency in a person's serotonin level. During a Serotonin migraine, the levels of Serotonin in a person's system may rise and suddenly fall prior to the migraine. Low levels of serotonin are linked to both migraines and depression.

There is a definite link between migraines and the levels of Serotonin in a person's body. Serotonin has been intensively studied and is believed to play a crucial role involving migraine headaches. Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter. It is important in the maintenance of extra cranial vasoconstriction.

Serotonin and its Production

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that passes signals from one portion of a person's brain to another. While you might never have a doctor mention anything about Serotonin, some medications are supposed to increase levels of it in people who experience migraines and skilled headache specialists are aware of this fact. Serotonin is produced in a person's brain where its main function is, yet surprisingly ? 90% of Serotonin is found in a person's stomach and blood platelets.

Serotonin is made through a biochemical process. Changes in the levels of Serotonin in a person's brain may also alter their mood. A number of people are administered antidepressants to help with Serotonin migraines. Serotonin is an organic compound that is also known as, '5-hydroxytryptamine,' or, '5-HT.' In a person's body, approximately 90% is found in their stomach and 10% in their blood platelets. The levels of the neurotransmitter in a person's body, either too much or too little, has been linked to a number of disorders including:

  • Bulimia
  • Migraine
  • Depression
  • Alcoholism
  • Cluster headache
  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)

Serotonin appears to influence a person's mood and libido, as well as impacting blood vessel constriction. According to J. John Mann of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, the message molecule flow from a nerve cell or, 'neuron,' onto other neurons act as receivers. There, they attach to a distinctly shaped area on the neuron referred to as a, 'receptor site.' The union, which is similar to a key fitting into a lock, then triggers signals which either permit the message to be passed on to other cells, or prevent the message from being passed forward.

While Serotonin does not appear to be the main cause of a migraine, low levels have been linked to migraine headaches for a long time. The majority of medication treatments of migraines influence Serotonin levels in one way or another, from the early use of, 'Ergotamine Tartrate,' the more recent, 'Triptan,' medications such as Imatrex. Repeated use of over the counter painkillers might actually lower levels of Serotonin in a person's body, potentially explaining why headaches begin returning on a regular basis when a person takes too many painkillers.

Hormonal headache might also have a relationship to Serotonin since the levels appear to be linked to estrogen levels. Recently, at least one genetic defect has been discovered that influences the production of Serotonin in a person's body. The defect, as well as other related defects, might explain why some people are more prone to disorders including depression.

Along with specific medications for migraine, Serotonin levels might be influenced by the foods a person eats. 'Tryptphen,' which is a precursor of the neurotransmitter in a person's body, can be found in a number of different foods. A newer means of increasing levels is by taking a 5-HTP supplement. People may be able to learn to recognize and avoid fluctuations in their Serotonin levels that affect their moods and appetite. People who experience migraines can reduce the frequency and severity of their headaches by avoiding certain activities and foods that are known to trigger migraines, as well as by selecting foods and activities that will raise their brain's supply of tryptophan.

Serotonin and Health

Serotonin is believed to influence several body functions. The majority of a person's brain cells are influenced either directly or indirectly by Serotonin, to include brain cells that are related to:

  • Sleep
  • Mood
  • Memory
  • Learning
  • Appetite
  • Some social behavior

Serotonin also plays a crucial role in a number of additional functions in a person's body. You might think that having low levels of Serotonin in your body could put you at risk of a Serotonin migraine and that the solution is to take more Serotonin ? this is not the case. The following is what may happen if a person develops, 'Serotonin syndrome,' by having levels of Serotonin that are too high.

Serotonin Syndrome

Serotonin syndrome happens when a person takes medications that cause high levels of Serotonin to accumulate in their body. Serotonin syndrome may happen when a person increases the dosage of a medication, or adds a new one to their regimen. Certain illicit drugs and dietary supplements are also associated with the syndrome. Too much Serotonin causes symptoms that can range from mild, such as diarrhea or shivering, to severe ? such as fever, muscle rigidity, and seizures. Severe Serotonin syndrome may even be fatal if not treated.

Milder forms of Serotonin syndrome might simply go away within a day of stopping the medications that are causing the symptoms. Sometimes, taking medications that block Serotonin can produce the same results. If a doctor switches your medications that raise Serotonin levels be sure to pay close attention and when it says to wait two weeks between taking one and another medication ? do so. Watch for symptoms of elevated levels of Serotonin such as:

  • Fever
  • Anxiety
  • Flushing
  • Paleness
  • Headache
  • Confusion
  • Rapid breathing
  • Poor coordination
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Change in heart rate

Unfortunately, if a person's Serotonin levels are too low, they may also experience Serotonin migraine. It is important to pay attention to how much you take and the side effects. There are also easy ways to naturally stimulate the production of Serotonin. Regular exercise, relaxation, walking while the sun is out, spending time with a pet, or simply enjoying yourself are all ways to stimulate Serotonin production. All of these are also stimulate natural pain killers called, 'endorphins.'

The Migraine Syndrome may begin in childhood, adolescence or early adult life and continue to reoccur at periodic intervals, which vary with the individual, and sometimes diminish in frequency as the person advances in age.

PointerThis web page is from the Disabled World Migraines and Headaches section which provides: Information regarding types of migraines and headaches including pain levels and treatment.
PointerLiving with Migraines 1 - Migraine is best described as a neurological syndrome characterized by altered bodily perceptions, severe headaches, and nausea. Physiologically, the migraine headache is a neurological condition more common to women than to men.

Living with Migraines 2 - There are migraine headache variants, some originate in the brainstem (featuring intercellular transport dysfunction of calcium and potassium ions) and some are genetically disposed.

PointerSerotonin - (5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)) is a monoamine neurotransmitter. Biochemically derived from tryptophan, serotonin is primarily found in the gastrointestinal tract, platelets, and in the central nervous system of animals including humans. It is thought to be a contributor to feelings of well-being and happiness. In addition to animals, serotonin is found in fungi and plants.

Phil Ramone, Grammy-winning producer, dead at 72

NEW YORK (AP) ? Phil Ramone, the Grammy Award-winning engineer and producer whose platinum touch included recordings with Ray Charles, Billy Joel and Paul Simon, has died at 72.

Ramone's son, Matt Ramone, confirmed the death. The family did not immediately release details of the death, but Matt Ramone says his father was "very loving and will be missed."

Few producers had a more spectacular and diverse career. Ramone won 14 Grammy Awards. He worked with Frank Sinatra and Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, Elton John and Tony Bennett.

He produced three records that went on to win Grammys for album of the year ? Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years," Joel's "52nd Street" and Charles' "Genius Loves Company." He was a pioneer of digital recording who produced what is regarded as the first major commercial release on compact disc, "52nd Street," which came out on CD in 1982.

He thrived producing music for television, film and the stage. He won an Emmy for a TV special about Duke Ellington, a Grammy for the soundtrack to the Broadway musical "Promises, Promises" and a Grammy for the soundtrack to "Flashdance."

Ramone made an art out of the "Duets" concept, pairing Sinatra with Bono, Luther Vandross and other younger artists, Bennett with McCartney and Barbra Streisand, and Charles with Bonnie Raitt and Van Morrison. In Ramone's memoir, "Making Records," he recalled persuading a hesitant Sinatra to re-record some of his signature songs.

"I reminded Frank that while Laurence Olivier had performed Shakespeare in his 20s, the readings he did when he was in his 60s gave them new meaning," Ramone wrote. "I spoke with conviction. 'Don't my children ? and your grandchildren ? deserve to hear the way you're interpreting your classic songs now?'"

A native of South Africa, he seemed born to make music. He had learned violin by age and was trained at The Julliard School in New York. Before age 20, he had opened his own recording studio.

Restaurant Uses Twitter To Call Out No-Shows - Business Insider

Trendy Los Angeles restaurant Red Medicine recently stirred up controversy for calling out no-shows on Twitter.

Restaurant manager Noah Ellis has taken responsibility for the rant.

Here are some of his tweets. Names of the customers have been blurred to protect their privacy:

?

Ellis talked to LA Eater about his rant.?

"It's always been a problem here (at the restaurant and in LA as a whole), but it's tricky -- those restaurants that overbook to protect themselves punish the guests who show up on time for their reservations, but not the people who no-show," Ellis told the blog. "I was frustrated, so I blew them up."

Some customers complained on Yelp that the rant was unprofessional.?

But Ellis hasn't backed down, instead continuing to defend himself against his critics on Twitter.?

Rights groups praise Oman pardon for protesters

MUSCAT, Oman (AP) ? International rights groups and others are hailing Oman's decision to pardon all activists jailed for offending the nation's ruler or joining protests.

The move by Oman's leader, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, runs counter to widening social media crackdowns by other Gulf Arab states.

Dozens of people have been charged in recent months across the Gulf for blogs, Twitter messages and other posts deemed insulting to rulers or threats to state security.

Amnesty International on Sunday called Oman's decision a positive step and urged authorities to further lift restrictions on freedom of expression. The Omani Lawyers Association also praised the blanket pardon announced last week.

The prisoners were expected to be freed beginning Sunday. No figures were given, but dozens have been jailed on Internet- or protest-linked charges since early 2011.

Personal Tools And Tips To Live By | MySpareTime.net

It can be quite difficult to begin any self improvement plan. A person?s character is made up of so many aspects, so the question is, ?where do you start??. This article was written to guide you in the ways of doing simple things that will help you develop personal goals. The following advice can help you prepare yourself to succeed.

Create goals that you can accomplish and live the life you love. Figuring out your weaknesses and doing what you can to deal with them will make you a happier, more satisfied person.

Make a list of your priorities, and plan your life around these elements. You will have much more inner peace if you just choose to focus on things that matter to you.

Growing as a person requires improving your health. Exercising and eating nutritious foods are core to a healthy lifestyle, but you also need to be able to stay with your regimen. When you make your health a priority, you increase your chances of feeling good, which will make it easier to improve other facets of your life.

TIP! Only associate with positive people. This will help to boost your self-esteem as well as give you a bit of a break from the kind of people that spend their time badmouthing your dreams and goals every chance that they get.

Judge yourself on your inner qualities rather than your outer beauty. Top of the line clothing or model-looks does not always make you a better person. Personality is what gets us through life, not looks. Work on improving yourself as a whole person rather than superficial changes.

Remember that you cannot please everybody, and that you should be your own top priority. You are responsible for your own personal happiness, but this shouldn?t be at the expense of other people?s feelings. When you are able to stay true to your beliefs and the things you value, then you will be happier with yourself and who you are.

A new trait that has recently come about is called sexual capitol. Right now, it is being research and looked at as important to personal development. This is basically another term for charisma. It involves using charm to get people to like you. Social skills do not come naturally to everybody, but developing them can certainly give you an edge in many situations.

Your mind?s health depends on how healthy your body is. Eat right, avoiding high fat foods and sugar, and get plenty of exercise. Like salt and pepper, a mind and body that are cared for and healthy go well together.

TIP! Let your personal principles guide your personal development. People have their beliefs that act as the center of themselves.

When you are working on your personal development, you should realize you deserve to be the best you can be. You need to be aware that you owe that to yourself. When all is said and done, you know that what was done was all that you could do, and you won?t have any regrets.

Choose very specific personal development goals so that you have a clear path to success. Having goals will allow you to better problem solve on how to get there. You can face each challenge and move on to the success you desire.

You must feel confident in your strengths in order to promote yourself. Everybody has unique skills, and it?s those skills that make our world diverse and an excellent planet to live on. You should concentrate on talents you currently have rather than worry about those you do not possess at this point.

Taking a few small risks may just be where you should start on your path towards happiness. Many people get stuck in a zone that is comfortable so they do not risk failure or rejection, but the true risk is the loss of opportunities for personal growth. Taking some chances is a key component of happiness. It demonstrates courage and a lust for life.

TIP! You should try to become the best at what you do. Your aspiration to greatness is usually pointed to by your passion.

Dealing with situations rationally is a skill that you can learn from others or teach yourself. If you learn how to handle the most stressful situations in life, then the smaller stuff will feel manageable, making your daily life better. Above all, remember to take a second and breathe deeply before confronting any stressful situation.

Create a fund specifically for emergencies. It appears as though every time something unexpected happens, we charge more to our credit cards. By setting aside five dollars each week, you will be one step closer to having a modest emergency fund. You can get your debt moving in the right direction (that is, downward) by making use of that fund instead of credit.

You should try to find and read books that tell you about self improvement. These types of reading materials can often provide new insights and give you methods to alter your behavior in lifelong positive ways. Be sure that you pick out a book that has been favorably reviewed because a lot of the times, these type of books can be poorly written.

Stress and happiness do not go together. Stress in the mind hurts us both mentally and physically across our body. To start thinking clearly and reaching for calm, purposeful goals, destroy your mind?s stress. Schedule a time during your day to be alone, relax, and clear your mind of everything. Taking some time to renew will help you to stay calm, and will improve your self-confidence.

TIP! Learn what others have done that has made them successful. The best way to learn how to avoid making mistakes in your career and your personal life is to discover the path that other people have taken toward self-fulfillment.

As you can see, self improvement is simpler than it looks. By breaking your personal development process into small, manageable goals, you?ll find yourself closer to your goals by the end of every day. You?ll be able to practice what you?re seeking to adopt as habit, and you?ll increase your own morale to continue. These tips are only a springboard, it?s up to you to build a better life.

2-headed shark fetus discovered by fisherman

2-headed shark fetus: A fisherman in the Florida keys caught a bull shark that contained a rare find. Inside was a shark fetus with two heads.?

When a fisherman caught a bull shark recently off the Florida Keys, he came across an unlikely surprise: One of the shark's live fetuses had two heads.

The fisherman kept the odd specimen, and shared it with scientists, who described it in?a study?published online today (March 25) in the Journal of Fish Biology. It's one of the very few examples of a two-headed shark ever recorded ? there about six instances in published reports ? and the first time this has been seen in a?bull shark, said Michael Wagner, a study co-author and researcher at Michigan State University.

Technically called "axial bifurcation," the deformity is a result of the embryo beginning to split into two separate organisms, or twins, but doing so incompletely, Wagner told OurAmazingPlanet. It's a very rare mutation that occurs across different animals, including humans.

"Halfway through the process of forming twins, the embryo stops dividing," he said.

The two-headed fetus likely wouldn't have lived for very long in the wild, he said. "When you're a predator that needs to move fast to catch other fast-moving fish ? that'd be nearly impossible with this mutation," he said. ?[See the two-headed shark.]

Wagner said the description of the deformed shark may someday help better understand how these deformities arise in sharks and other animals.

Two-headed snakes and turtles can be bought from certain specialty breeders, and there is a small market for such creatures, Wagner said.

Several of the few examples of two-headed sharks available today come from museum specimens from the late 1800s, when deformed animals and other?macabre curiosities?fetched high prices, he said.

Another reason the two-headed shark likely wouldn't have survived: its small body. "It had very developed heads, but a very stunted body," Wagner said. There's only so much energy that can go into the body's development, and it went into the shark's double noggins, he added.

Russian businessman Berezovsky dies near London: long-time friend

LONDON (Reuters) - Former Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, a fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin, has been found dead at his home near London, a prominent Russian opposition figure said on Saturday. He was 67.

Berezovsky was a Moscow powerbroker under the late President Boris Yeltsin before falling out with Putin and fleeing to Britain in 2001.

"I can confirm he died in his home. I've known him for a long, long time, we have spent a lot of time together. I am shocked. It is the end of an epoch," Andrei Sidelnikov, who was a friend of Berezovsky's, told Reuters.

There were no immediate details about how or when Berezovsky died. Britain's Foreign Office and police had no immediate comment.

One of his London-based spokesmen said she was checking the reports of his death.

Berezovsky lost a high-profile court case against Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich in London last year after a $6 billion (3.9 billion pounds) legal battle related to the post-Soviet division of Russia's vast natural resources.

Berezovsky, who orchestrated the re-election of Boris Yeltsin in 1996 and played a role in Putin's rise to power, was granted political asylum in Britain in 2003.

Rebels enter C. African Republic capital

BANGUI, Central African Republic (AP) ? Hundreds of rebels penetrated the capital of Central African Republic on Saturday, posing the gravest threat to President Francois Bozize's government in a decade. In at least one part of the city, the insurgents faced resistance and were battling their way through, a group monitoring the situation said.

The capital of this desperately poor nation was plunged into darkness after fighters cut power to much of the city. State radio went dead, and fearful residents cowered in their homes Saturday night.

The rebels, who signed a peace agreement in January that was to allow Bozize to stay in power until 2016, have been threatening to overthrow the president unless he meets their demands.

The rebels come from several different armed groups that have long challenged the government and have an array of grievances and demands. They are now accusing Bozize of failing to abide by the terms of the latest deal signed two months ago, with the help of mediators from neighboring countries.

"For us, there is no other solution than the departure of Francois Bozize," Eric Massi, a rebel spokesman, said from Paris by telephone late Saturday.

Massi confirmed that the rebel forces had entered Bangui and were continuing their advance into the capital in an effort to secure the city.

Rebel fighters had rapidly seized a dozen towns in December and January but never entered the capital before agreeing to the negotiations that led to the failed January peace accord.

Guy Moussa, who lives in the PK12 neighborhood on the north side of the city, told The Associated Press that hundreds of rebels were seen entering the city around 6 p.m.

Coverseas Worldwide Assistance, a Swiss-based crisis management firm with contacts on the ground, said that rebels, known as Seleka, had split into three columns. One had set up a base in PK12, while a second headed further into Bangui and met no resistance. A third column entered Bangui from the west, where the rebels faced resistance and combat was ongoing.

Earlier in the afternoon, non-essential United Nations personnel taking a bus to the airport had been stopped by a group of angry youths.

"No one leaves this country. You will stay here. If we die, we all die together," the youths shouted, according to U.N. employee Debonheur Deotar.

The growing unrest is the latest threat to the stability of Central African Republic, a nation of 4.5 million that has long been wracked by rebellions and power grabs. The president himself took power in 2003 following a rebellion, and his tenure has been marked by conflict with myriad armed groups.

Bozize's whereabouts late Saturday were not immediately known. On Friday, state radio announced that he had returned from South Africa where he was meeting with that country's president, Jacob Zuma.

Massi, the rebel spokesman, said Bozize was believed to be sheltering at the South African Embassy in Bangui.

South Africa has sent troops and equipment to support Central African Republic forces. The rebels insist the foreign troops leave, and, as part of their demands, they want their own fighters integrated into the national army.

On Friday, the rebels seized Damara, which had been the boundary line drawn up by regional forces before the January peace accord was signed. The move marked a serious escalation by the rebels, who went on to take the town of Bossembele early Saturday, said military spokesman Lt. Evrard Tekremoyen.

The insurgents then drove to the neighboring town of Boali and took control of three power plants that serve the town and the capital, residents said.

The rebels also cut off the electrical grid, plunging some of Bangui into darkness, Elisabeth Kofio, the director of Central African Republic Energy, said on the radio.

Earlier in the week, Bozize had offered to release some political prisoners, but the rebels said the gestures were too little, too late.

Dinosaur-killing rock 'was a comet'

The space rock that hit Earth 65m years ago and is widely implicated in the end of the dinosaurs was probably a speeding comet, US scientists say.

Researchers in New Hampshire suggest the 180km-wide Chicxulub crater in Mexico was carved out by a smaller object than previously thought.

Many scientists consider a large and relatively slow moving asteroid to have been the likely culprit.

Details were outlined at the 44th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference.

But other researchers were more cautious about the results.

"The overall aim of our project is to better characterise the impactor that produced the crater in the Yucatan peninsula [in Mexico]," Jason Moore, from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, told BBC News.

The space rock gave rise to a global layer of sediments enriched in the chemical element iridium, in concentrations much higher than naturally occurs; it must have come from outer space.

Extra-terrestrial chemistry

However, in the first part of their work, the team suggests that frequently quoted iridium values are incorrect. Using a comparison with another extraterrestrial element deposited in the impact - osmium - they were able to deduce that the collision deposited less debris than has previously been supposed.

The recalculated iridium value suggests a smaller body hit the Earth. So for the second part of their work, the researchers took the new figure and attempted to reconcile it with the known physical properties of the Chicxulub impact.

For this smaller space rock to have produced a 180km-wide crater, it must have been travelling relatively quickly. The team found that a long-period comet fitted the bill much better than other possible candidates.

"You'd need an asteroid of about 5km diameter to contribute that much iridium and osmium. But an asteroid that size would not make a 200km-diameter crater," said Dr Moore.

"So we said: how do we get something that has enough energy to generate that size of crater, but has much less rocky material? That brings us to comets."

Dr Moore's colleague Prof Mukul Sharma, also from Dartmouth College, told BBC News: "You would need some special pleading for an asteroid moving very rapidly - although it is possible. But of the comets and asteroids we have looked at in the skies, the comets are the ones that are moving very rapidly."

Long-period comets are balls of dust, rock and ice that are on highly eccentric trajectories around the Sun. They may take hundreds, thousands or in some cases even millions of years to complete one orbit.

The extinction event 65 million years ago is now widely associated with the space impact at Chicxulub. It killed off about 70% of all species on Earth in just a short period of time, most notably the non-avian dinosaurs.

The enormous collision would have triggered fires, earthquakes and huge tsunamis. The dust and gas thrown up into the atmosphere would have depressed global temperatures for several years.

Lost in space

Dr Gareth Collins, who researches impact cratering at Imperial College London, described the research by the Dartmouth team as "nice work" and "thought-provoking".

But he told BBC News: "I don't think it is possible to accurately determine the impactor size from geochemistry.

"Geochemistry tells you - quite accurately - only the mass of meteoritic material that is distributed globally, not the total mass of the impactor. To estimate the latter, one needs to know what fraction of the impactor was distributed globally, as opposed to being ejected to space or landing close to the crater."

He added: "The authors suggest that 75% of the impactor mass is distributed globally, and hence arrive at quite a small-sized impactor, but in reality this fraction could be lower than 20%."

That could keep the door open for a bigger, more slowly moving asteroid.

The authors accept this point, but cite recent studies suggesting mass loss for the Chicxulub impact was between 11% and 25%.

In recent years, several space objects have taken astronomers by surprise, serving as a reminder that our cosmic neighbourhood remains a busy place.

On 15 February this year, 2012 DA14 - an asteroid as large as an Olympic swimming pool - raced past the Earth at a distance of just 27,700km (17,200mi). It had only been discovered the previous year.

And on the same day, a 17m space rock exploded over Russia's Ural mountains with an energy of about 440 kilotonnes of TNT. About 1,000 people were injured as the shockwave blew out windows and rocked buildings.

Some 95% of the near-Earth objects larger than 1km have been discovered. However, only about 10% of the 13,000 - 20,000 asteroids above the size of 140m are being tracked.

There are probably many more comets than near-Earth asteroids, but Nasa points out they spend almost all of their lifetimes at great distances from the Sun and Earth, so that they contribute only about 10% to the census of larger objects that have struck the Earth.

See where Lavar Johnson, Bellator and marijuana fall on this week?s Hot or Not list

It's been a slow week for MMA, but that doesn't mean there haven't been plenty of things for us to talk about. Here's a closer look at who is hot and who is not.

Hot ? Bellator: There are few things fans love more than a fight card filled with finishes. Fans should be enthralled with Bellator's card this week, as nine fights were finished. Eight were in the first round. Bellator's only worry should be how to follow up such a performance for next week.

Not ? Lavar Johnson: By now, every fighter on the UFC roster knows that the UFC is looking to trim their numbers. They have to walk the line to keep a job, and Johnson did not do that. He lost his last two fights, and then failed his UFC 157 drug test. Not surprisingly, the UFC cut him.

Hot ? Marijuana: Well, kinda. Though laws on marijuana use are loosening up across the country, state athletic commissions still test for it for fights. Recognizing the change, UFC vice president Marc Ratner asked the Nevada Athletic Commission to change the way it looks at positive tests for marijuana.

Not ? Dan Hardy: He called out Matt Brown, and the two were set for a bout at UFC on Fox 7. However, injury forced Hardy off the card, and Jordan Mein is stepping in to face Brown. Mein is fresh off of a win over Dan Miller.

Still taking temperature ? World Series of Fighting: The new promotion's second show is Saturday night on NBC Sports Network. Will people tune in to Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson over college basketball and wrestling? We'll find out.

Reid To Introduce Gun Control Legislation With Background Checks

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will move forward with Senate Democrats' gun control legislation, a move designed to set the Senate up to start working on the controversial legislation when they return from recess on April 8.

The bill will include a proposal for universal background checks, a controversial measure that faces an uphill climb in the Senate.

Democratic leadership aides say Reid is still leaving the door open to replace the language on background checks, as passed this month out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, with a compromise package, should one emerge over the next few weeks.

"I hope negotiations will continue over the upcoming break to reach a bipartisan compromise on background checks, and I am hopeful that they will succeed," Reid said in a statement Thursday. "If a compromise is reached, I am open to including it in the base bill. But I want to be clear: in order to be effective, any bill that passes the Senate must include background checks."

Also included in the bill will be straw purchasing and trafficking provisions, aides say.

The base bill will not include the controversial ban on assault weapons, as decided this week by Senate Majoirty Leader Harry Reid.

But the assault weapons ban will get its vote, Reid promises - as President Obama did, as an amendment to the bill. "Once debate begins, I will ensure that a ban on assault weapons, limits to high-capacity magazines, and mental health provisions receive votes, along with other amendments. In his State of the Union address, President Obama called for all of these provisions to receive votes, and I will ensure that they do," Reid said in a statement.
